About
Since 1985 the Melbourne Spikers Volleyball Club has provided a friendly and supportive environment, with the emphasis on having fun, meeting new people and improving skills.Come along on Tuesday nights to experience some coaching and join in a couple of social volleyball games with a great group of people. Coaching is provided for every level of experience, from first-timers to advanced. Don't be daunted, you're in good company!
We also host our own volleyball tournaments and social events, participate in local competitions, interstate tournaments and international GLBTIQ games.
Membership
Membership of Melbourne Spikers provides insurance for both you and the club. It covers you when you play in the Kew and MSAC competitions so you don't have to pay VV membership.Signing on as a member costs just $25 per year and is compulsory after your 3rd visit.
Here are just a few of the benefits:
The atmosphere is very casual and relaxed. No special clothing is required, just shorts, t-shirt and a solid pair of sports shoes. All equipment, such as balls and nets, are supplied. After the game many players head for a cheap meal or for drinks and some do both!
Contact Melbourne Spikers for details of how you could become involved in our competitive teams in training or in league activities. We can put you in touch with teams already playing at MSAC or Kew, or help you to form a team for the new season.
We host 2 volleyball tournaments of our own each year as part of Melbourne's Midsumma Festival and Queen's Birthday(Vic) in June. Teams from Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra and Sydney join us for great weekends of volleyball and much socialising!
The Spikers also organise to send teams to the various Volleyball Victoria tournaments as well as the odd interstate and international adventure. Check the calendar below for dates and contact the committee if you are interested in going along or helping out.
